Showers above 50mm in Sabaragamuwa Province and Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts

Weather forecast issued at 05.30 a.m. on 11 March 2023 by the Department of Meteorology
Several spells of showers will occur in Uva Province and in Ampara, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.
Showers or thunder showers may occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or night.
Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa Province and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Winds will be north-easterly and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Colombo via Mannar and Puttalam and in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Colombo via Mannar and Puttalam and sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be moderate.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western coastal areas, the Southern province and in Monaragala, Ampara and Batticaloa districts while showers or thundershowers will occur in the other areas of the island during the afternoon or night. Heavy rainfall of above 100 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
