Senior journalist’s third collection of poems

Continuing with his creative endeavours, senior journalist, poet and literary critic Lynn Ockersz has just published his third collection of poems titled, ‘The April 21st Consensus’. The majority of poems in this collection reflect the poet’s perceptions and interpretations of the most conspicuous and salient contemporary local and international socio-political realities. They could be described as testifying to his profound concern for the powerless everywhere. Accordingly, humanism is the collection’s keynote.

While the condition of the powerless and vulnerable constitutes the universal dimension in ‘The April 21st Consensus’, recurring issue areas in the collection, such as, national reconciliation, inter-religious peace, political disharmony, power abuse and setbacks in democratic development, render the collection a revealing mirror to our world. Found in the collection are also poems of spirituality which testify to the poet’s belief that the secular and spiritual realms could never be treated as separable.

Notable for a concise, concentrated and creative use of language, the collection mirrors crucial local and international developments that have helped shape the world we live in. It is an artistic and tasteful publication of Darshana Marketing Enterprises (PVT) Ltd, Battaramulla (darshanar@darshanapathum.com) and is currently available for sale at the numerous bookshops of Sarasavi Publishers, Expographic Bookshop, Pelewatte and Poobalasingam Bookshop, Jaffna. The book is available on https://brightlight.lk/ for deliveries across the island.
