Selling state land using forged documents: Mervyn, three associates further remanded

Former Minister Mervyn Silva, arrested and remanded for allegedly seeling a plot of state-owned land in Kiribathgoda to a private party fraudulently, was further remanded yesterday when he was produced in court.
Silva has been accused of forging documents to facilitate the transaction.
The Mahara Magistrate’s Court ordered that Silva and three others be remanded further until April 21 pending further investigations.
Meanwhile, the court also issued warrants for the arrest of former State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera and Milroy Perera, who are evading arrest in connection with the same case.
The former Minister was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on 05 March.
