Mr Editor, thank you for espousing our cause since the vast majority no longer believe in politicians. Gone are the days when crafty intellectually dishonest men, wolves in sheep’s clothing misled the gullible masses. It’s public knowledge that while the helpless public struggle to keep the wolf from the door they live on us with nothing short that life offer to the super rich.

The Cabinet spokesperson said that the salaries of some state officials would be delayed for want of rupees. I wonder whether the parasites’ salaries allowances and the colossal amount now expended on back up vehicles had been paid or will not be paid.

My thoughts go to a judgment given by the Supreme Court of India on this back up luxury. The judge annulled that perk and made order saying those who are frightened to move about as public servants “must stay at home.” It was said that the cause of our ruin who had an ambulance also when he rode high has six back up fuel guzzlers today.

At the moment a video is doing the rounds where The President of France and the Prime Minister of Denmark are on bicycles. In the not too distant past the elected Prime Minister of Italy came to take his oath of office by TAXI.

The diplomatic community must be aghast to see this obnoxious practice of convoys most in Mercedes, BMWs Range Rovers, etc., all fuel guzzlers when the poor are without meals including children at home.

Perhaps the rulers are unaware or choose not to know that in many village schools, the  poor teachers had enlisted the support of those who could afford to chip in and had fed starving children. What was most amazing to the good Samaritans had been the behaviour of the kids. They had consumed half and kept the balance to be shared with the hungry at home. It is in this backdrop these parasites who ruined the country still live on the people.

I strongly support the views of the Editor and Amy de Silva on the critical need to scale down the 75th anniversary celebrations and restrict the event.

It is abundantly clear that the current leader is drawing a lot of satisfaction from what he observes in the city and the periphery where hotels are full with the new rich. Economists of repute loudly tell that by December 2023 that we will have to pay between 3 to 5 BILLION dollars servicing.

The absence of the many queues which possibly give confidence to engage in a vain tamasha costing 200 million is due to not servicing the debt since April and diverting funds for bare essentials, fuel, gas, coal, etc.

Mr President, gone are the days when the people trusted politicians on face value, and accepted their stories. That is not all; the recent judgment of the Supreme Court should convince them that they can no longer mislead the thanks to a vibrant young generation.
