Sajitha steals limelight as Battle of the Maroons ends in draw
An unbeaten century by skipper Sajitha Vithanage was the highlight as the 94th Battle of the Maroons Big Match between Ananda and Nalanda ended in a draw at the SSC ground in Colombo on Sunday.
Vithanage powered Nalanda to 277 for eight wickets declared as he anchored the innings with his unbeaten knock. Sadew Samarasinghe made 84.
A draw loomed large as Ananda’s reply innings extending to the second day afternoon. They were cautious in their approach at start before Dinada Athalage and Kithma Withanapathirana made half centuries for Ananda to post 286 for nine wickets declared.In their second essay Nalanda were 120 for two wickets at close.
