Sajith asks Ranil not to follow Namal’s advice

Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa has warned President Ranil Wickemesinghe that he would face the same fate as Gotabaya Rajapaksa if he continued to follow the advice of Namal Rajapaksa.Addressing a public gathering at Gampola this week, Premadasa, who is also the Opposition Leader questioned the rationale behind President Wickremsinghe backing the Rajapaksas’s push for a rehabilitation bureau. He alleged that the Rajapaksas were planning to send those who protested against them to rehabilitation centres

on the pretext of bringing in new legislation to rehabilitate persons dependent on drugs, ex-combatants, members of violent extremist groups and any other group of persons who require treatments and rehabilitation.

MP Premadasa urged Wickremesinghe to desist from listening to the Rajapaksas’ advice or be prepared to face the consequences. The SJB leader asserted that since Wickremesinghe secured the presidency in July with the SLPP’s backing to complete the remainder of Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s term, Mahinda Rajapaksa’s sons had consolidated their positions and were now demanding action against those who campaigned for system change.
