A man transporting 247 kilos and 940 grams of Kerala ganja, valued at approximately Rs. 25 million, in a luxury vehicle has been arrested by officers from the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Chilaw Police Division.
The arrest took place on the night of 25th February in the Marawila area along the Colombo-Chilaw main road. The operation was carried out based on intelligence received by Sergeant (67359) Weerasinghe from a confidential informant. Police investigations have revealed that the consignment of Kerala ganja was smuggled into Sri Lanka from India.

Preliminary police investigations have confirmed these findings, and further inquiries are ongoing, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohan Perera, the Officer-in-Charge of the Chilaw Police Division.
The operation was conducted under the directives of SSP Rohan Perera and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dhammika Hapugoda, and was led by Chief Inspector Rukshan Perera, Officer-in-Charge of the Headquarters Police. The raid was conducted by officers of the Anti-Corruption Unit, including Chief Inspector Samansiri, Sergeant (67359) Weerasinghe, and Constables (84280) Swarnathilaka, (88602) Sampath, and (9111) Jayamaha.
