By Saman Indrajith
The committee appointed to look into the incidents that took place in the Parliament chamber and its premises on April 21 would submit its report to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena next week, Parliament sources said yesterday.
The decision to submit the report was made at the committee meeting held on Monday in the parliamentary complex with its chairman Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya presiding.
Ministers Chamal Rajapaksa, Keheliya Rambukwella, State Minister Susil Premajayantha, Members of Parliament Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Imtiaz Bakeer Markar, R.M. Ranjith Madduma Bandara and M.A. Sumanthiran are also members of the committee.
The committee was appointed by Speaker Abeywardena on April 23 to recommend action to prevent a recurrence of the incidents.
Parliament was plunged into chaos on April 21 when the ruling party MPs moved into the Well of the house in protest against a statement made by opposition MP Harin Fernando had made the previous day.
Fernando on April 20 slammed the government over the Easter Sunday carnage investigations and called for action against the real perpetrators.
