Ranil urges youth to bring about revolutionary change through Constitution

Former Prime Minister and UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe warns that there is a serious possibility of a political revolution in the country if the demands of the youth are not accepted and the government decides its course of action to find immediate solutions.
In a discussion with social media, he said: “We are looking to topple the government in Parliament. The youth are looking for a political overthrow in the streets.”
Wickremesinghe said that it was a big force and that those forces had also emerged in the UNP. He added that he had given permission to the youth of the UNP to join the street battles and instructed them to carry out the struggle peacefully.
“In order to avoid the crisis in the country, the youth of the country must continue the struggle in accordance with the Constitution,” the UNP leader said.
Wickremesinghe said he was aware of the fears of the youth at the loss of their future and commended the youth for working peacefully, adding that the existing system should be changed through the constitution and once the constitution is broken, and it will be easier to break it again.
Wickremesinghe also said that the power of the parliament, the government with the Cabinet and the political parties has been reduced and a new power has been created.
