SLPP General Secretary and Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam yesterday (25) asked President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to reveal his stand on UK sanctions on Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, retired Generals Shavendra Silva and Jagath Jayasuriya and ex-LTTE Ampara-Batticaloa commander Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, alias Karuna Amman.

Addressing the media at the Battaramulla SLPP party office, the former MP demanded that President Dissanayake, who is also the Defence Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, make his stand and that of the government clear, without delay.

Kariyawasam said that the vast majority of people were deeply concerned by the British move. The SLPPer emphasised that the armed forces and police were being humiliated by the NPP government and the sanctions imposed on military leaders couldn’t be ignored.
