Candidates who have made their deposits by 12.00 noon on 14.08.2024 for the presidential election to be held on 2I.09.2024 are required to visit the Election Commission office to submit their nominations on 15.08.2024.

The procedure for nomination submission is outlined below:
1. Receiving of Nominations:
Nominations will be received by the Chairman and Members of the Commission on 15.08.2024 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Auditorium of the Election Secretariat in Rajagiriya.

2. Objections to Nominations:
Written objections can be submitted by opposing candidates or individuals who have signed the nomination papers of opposing candidates between 9:00 am to 11:30 am on the day of nomination.

3 Those permitted to enter the Election Secretariat premises on 15.08.2024 include:
i. Candidates
ii. Individuals who have signed the nominations of the candidates
iii. One representative chosen by each candidate
iv. 03 visitors per candidate
v. Authorized representatives from media organizations approved by the Director General of Information upon notification by the Election Commission
vi. Authorized staff of the Election Commission and representatives/employees of supporting agencies
vii. Security personnel and janitorial staff of the Election Secretariat viii. Government Security Officers (PSOs) authorized by security agencies providing personal security to the candidates

4. Persons authorized to enter the hall where nominations will be received include:
i. Candidates
ii. Individuals who have signed the nomination papers of the candidates
iii. One person representing each candidate
iv. Authorized staff of the Election Commission
v. Cameramen, technicians, and assistants permitted for news coverage by authorized media organizations

5. Candidates, individuals who have signed the nomination papers, representatives acting on behalfofcandidates, and the vehicles transporting guests:
i. Parking arrangements will be made for the candidate’s vehicle only (displaying the Vehicle Permit “A”) upon entering the Election Secretariat premises.
ii. Vehicles of individuals who have signed the nomination papers and representatives authorized to enter the nomination venue for each candidate (displaying the Vehicles Permit “B”) will drop off individuals at Sarana Mawatha and then proceed to park at Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Municipal Council’s Car Park. Parking will be available at Sacred Heart Church’s Car Park at Kotte Road, Rajagiriya and Janajaya City Car Park, Rajagiriya.
iii. Vehicles of candidates’guests (displaying the Vehicles Permit “C”) should approach from Old Kotte Road or Parliament Road to the last designated checkpoint at Sarana Mawatha for guest drop-off. These vehicles should then be parked at the locations mentioned in ii above.
iv. The Commission will provide shuttle services for those arriving as described in (ii) and (iii) above to reach the Election Secretariat from the designated checkpoint.

6. (1) Establishments located on Sarana Mawatha in Rajagiriya leading to the Election Secretariat:
Service recipients and staff from all establishments on Sarana Mawatha are hereby notified that Rajagiriya Sarana Mawatha will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic until 2:00 pm on 15.08.2024.
(2) Staff of other government and private institutions in the urban area of Rajagiriya, visitors to those places, and vehicles: Employees of the institutions mentioned in (6) above and vehicles visiting those institutions will not be allowed to utilize the access road from Sarana Mawatha between 6:00 am and 2:00 pm. Instead, transportation should be directed through the access road near the Rajagiriya bus stand.

7. The traffic control by the police on 15.08.2024 around the Election Secretariat:
i. Candidates’ vehicles arriving to submit their nominations will be permitted to access Sarana Mawatha and enter the Election Secretariat premises via Old Kotte Road or Parliament Road passing Ayurveda Junction.
ii. After completing the nomination submission process, candidates are required to depart using the same route they used when arriving.
iii. The police will communicate to the public the details of the special traffic arrangement that will be enforced on this day.

The inspection and transportation of officials, agents, and camera equipment from media organizations to the Election Secretariat.
These arrangements are coordinated by the Government Information Department in accordance with the directives of the Election Commission and relevant security agencies. Media organizations are notified about these arrangements by the Government Information Department.
