President, GL receive awards
Prof. G. L. Peiris, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, was among several distinguished alumni who received Pinnacle Achievement Awards at the ceremony organised by the Alumni Association of the University of Colombo, at Hotel Galadari, last Friday.
The awards were given away by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who himself was honoured.
Prof. Peiris was introduced as a Rhodes Scholar, Doctor of Philosophy and Quondam Visiting Fellow of All Souls College of the University of Oxford; a former Distinguished Visiting Fellow of Christ’s College, Cambridge; and Smuts Visiting Fellow in Commonwealth Studies in the University of Cambridge; and Butterworths Visiting Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in the University of London.
