Parliament to hold live Twitter discussions by taking up public queries from 14 Oct.

Parliament said on Wednesday that it would hold a series of online discussions where the public could directly ask questions about various bills and laws.The first such discussion will be a live Twitter discussion on “Reforming the Justice System” on 14 October from 9.30 am to 10.30am via the Parliament official Twitter account (@Parliament.LK) with the participation of Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
On that day, the public can ask questions related to reforming the country’s justice system and constitutional reforms. Questions can be directed under the hashtag #LKaskMP and the public are invited to direct their concerns by connecting and engaging live on that day.This series of live Twitter discussions is organized by the Department of Communication of the Parliament of Sri Lanka as an initiative to create a platform for public representatives and the public to engage directly through Parliament for the purpose of creating a people-centric parliament.
Furthermore, the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs’ (Amendment) Bill, Notaries Ordinance (Amendment) Bill, Powers of Attorney Ordinance (Amendment) Bill, Wills Ordinance (Amendment) Bill, Registration of Documents (Amendment) Bill, Prevention of Frauds Ordinance (Amendment) bill are scheduled to be taken up for debate on the 19 October.

Republic of Korea Navy Ship Kang Gam Chan calls at Port of Colombo

The Republic of Korea Navy Ship Kang Gam Chan arrived at the Port of Colombo on a replenishment visit this morning (22 Apr 25).
The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.
Kang Gam Chan is a 149.5m long Destroyer commanded by Captain Kuon Yong Gu, and is manned by a crew of 262.
The ship is scheduled to depart the island on 24 Apr.
