Oshara making huge strides in cricket in UK
Oshara Rajapaksa is making waves in the UK cricket scene, taking giant strides on the field in London and quickly becoming a name to watch for the future. Recently, she earned her stripes by securing a spot in the Middlesex County Cricket Club Under-12 team, a testament to her promising talent.
Her selection at the county level comes on the heels of a stunning hat-trick in the Middlesex League last season. Oshara, a right-arm medium pacer who often shares the new ball, is no slouch with the bat either, making her a double threat.
Born in London to Sri Lankan parents, Rashmi and Viraj, Oshara is hailed as a rare find—a player destined to make her mark. Cricket runs in her veins, thanks to her father, a former cricketer himself, who sowed the seeds early through his involvement with the Lankan Lions Cricket Club in London.
Starting young with Highgate Cricket Club, Oshara has been molded by the hands of seasoned experts Johan de Silva and Laura de Silva. Former Sri Lankan First-Class cricketer Saliya Saman also has been instrumental in shaping her career from the ground up.
