Online bill hassle

The Ceylon Electricity Board and several other large private sector organisations, including Banks, are now refusing to provide customers with Paper (hard copy) of their Bills.
IS THIS PRACTICE LEGALLY PERMISSIBLE? Their excuse is “paper saving” but in fact they are doing this purely to increase their bottom line – PROFIT! Online billing with various added charges and added interest mysteriously calculated, make it IMPOSSIBLE for ordinary customers to maintain proper records! After a lapse of a few months your online bill is untraceable and this would not happen with a “paper copy”.
Let us hope the Power and Energy Minister will step in, and order the CEB to send out Paper Bills on request.
