Old Anandians’ Group of 2004 donates equipment worth Rs. 1.3mn to Kalubowila Hospital
Under its ‘Let’s protect our protectors’ initiative
The Old Anandians’ Group of 2004 donated air-conditioner units and public address systems to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila last week.
Initiating the project under its motto ‘Let’s protect our protectors’, the Group donated 10 air-conditioners to the high dependency unit of the hospital, where medical and nursing staff work for extended hours wearing personal protective gear.
In addition, three public address systems were also given to the hospital staff to communicate with patients to minimize exposure. The total cost of the project was Rs. 1.3 million.
The President of Old Boys’ Association of Ananda College, Bimal Wijesinghe and the Vice President, Yasas Ariyarathne, handed over the equipment to the hospital.
President of Old Anandians’ Group of 2004, Pubudu Chathuranga thanked the donors and all those involved to make the project a great success in this hour of need.
He also conveyed his gratitude to all old Anandians who reached out to help at a time of national need.
The safety of the medical staff is of paramount importance at this juncture, Wijesinghe stressed, while adding that it was an honour for Ananda College to have contributed towards such a worthy cause.
The Old Anandians Group of 2004 expressed optimism of continuing to serve the people and the country by initiating similar projects in the future.
