New IUSF Convener claims govt. has unleashed suppression of student movement

The government has unleashed suppression on the Sri Lankan student movement because of the active role it played in the anti-government protests last year, Convener for the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF), Madushan Chandrajith, claimed in Colombo, yesterday.
A large number of student activists have been suspended in almost all universities, he said.
The suspensions are especially seen in Sri Jayewardenepura, Sabaragamuwa, Peradeniya and Rajarata universities, he mentionedHe added that students demonstrated against these suspensions at the Sri Jayewardenepura, Eastern and South Eastern Universities on Thursday evening.
