Marlon Amarasekara: Success Down Under

Marlon Amarasekara’s trip to Australia has turned out to be a great success, going by reports coming my way.

His performance at the Walawwa, in Melbourne, was outstanding, they say, where he thrilled a capacity crowd, backed by the band Ebony.

One music lover had this to say about Marlon’s Walawwa performance: “Bro you rocked it. Sound was superb. Guitar sounded really nice, too.”

It also turned out to be a memorable Sunday evening for those who checked out the Epicurex, in Mulgrave, Melbourne, to see Marlon’s final perform. Reports indicate the the cool night air added to the atmosphere as a packed audience enjoyed his performance.

The event was organised by Esric Jackson of Replay 6 fame.

Since Marlon’s trip to Australia was after a considerable period, he had lots of visits to meet – school pals, friends, fans – and, he says, he enjoyed the outings they had arranged for him.

He also did a quick recording session of cover songs at Stan’s studios, saying: “I just love the energy of analog recording.”

In the meanwhile, Roger Menezes is back in Sydney, Australia, after his three-month stay in Sri Lanka, performing at the Galadari Hotel.

“Missing Lanka already. Waiting to come back.”

And Roger is due in Colombo again, towards the end of this month.
