Lyceum Wattala clinch title

Under 17 Division II Cricket

Lyceum International School Wattala clinched the title of the Under 17 Division II cricket tournament as they beat Christ King College JaEla by eight wickets in the final played at De Mazenod College ground Kandana on Saturday.

Lyceum restricted Christ King to 142 runs before knocking off the win need in 32 overs. Valuable 30s by Shavidu Silva (38 n.o.), Tharusha Ranasinghe (37 n.o.) and Omalka Hapuarachchi helped them reach the target with eight wickets in hand.

In the bowling department, Sadew Hettiarachchi excelled taking three wickets for Lyceum.

For Christ King Avishka Nirmal was the standout performer as he top-scored with 59 runs.

Jagath Senarathne, Vice President of Sri Lanka School Cricket Association and Principal of P. De S. Kularathne College Ambalangoda, Rev. Nihal Rodrigo, Principal of Christ King College Ja Ela, Stella Anthony, Principal of Lyceum International School Wattala, Y. Nishantha Kumara, the Under 19 Tournament Secretary of SLSCA and Malik Keerthi, the Under 17 Tournament Secretary of SLSCA participated in the awards ceremony.
