Litro ignites spark of fellowship at Scout Jamboree-2024
The recently concluded 10th National Scout Jamboree in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, not only celebrated international camaraderie but also showcased Litro’s influential role under the visionary leadership of Chairman Muditha Peiris. With a focus on safety, sustainability, and collaboration, Litro’s commitment to national transformation was felt across the event, leaving an indelible mark on the 12,000 scouts from 28 nations.
Litro’s presence at the jamboree aligns with the organization’s three-pillar approach to achieving energy sustainability by prioritizing the environment, society and the economy. In that regard, Litro has worked closely with students in the past years raising awareness and advocating for the use of LPG as a sustainable, safer energy alternative. “At Litro, we firmly believe in the importance of leadership and, as such, we are pleased to have been part of this endeavor to mentor future leaders in energy sustainability. We have educated and raised awareness among the scouts about LPG and allowed them the opportunity to explore & experience our products and services firsthand. This has been an excellent learning opportunity for us as well,” said Chairman of Litro, Muditha Peiris.

Gatz at City of Dreams Sri Lanka brings live entertainment to the heart of Colombo
Gatz Re-imagined brings a fresh take on classic supper club culture, with live entertainment throughout the week in the heart of modern Colombo. Gatz brings together live entertainment, food, drinks and conversation in an atmosphere that evolves through the evening. At the center of the experience is a curated line-up of live music throughout the week, giving guests the opportunity to discover a different sound and energy each time they visit.
The weekly line-up sees Top Hats take the stage on Mondays and Tuesdays, bringing a versatile repertoire led by vocalist Daniella. On Wednesdays, Enroute draws on the music of Frank Sinatra, Matt Monro and the classics of yesteryear, with Gananath on saxophone adding his distinctive sound to the evening. From Thursday through Sunday, Terry & The Big Spenders bring their extensive selection of jazz and favourites from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, with Viraj at the grand piano.
Alongside its regular schedule, Gatz also hosts special performances that introduce a wider range of sounds and styles to the experience. Recent appearances have included Atilla Iskif, a four-time champion mixologist and bartender who has performed at major international events, as well as Mintaka, fronted by drummer Chris Dhason, well-known within Colombo’s live music and events circuit.
Together, these performances reflect the range and calibre of entertainment guests can expect at Gatz, from jazz and timeless favourites to contemporary sounds and special guest appearances.
The live music forms part of the wider Gatz Re-imagined experience, bringing a contemporary perspective to the classic supper club. Guests can move naturally from relaxed conversations and drinks to food, live performances and a livelier late-night atmosphere, enjoying the evening at their own pace.
Food and mixology complement the entertainment. Refined Sri Lankan bar bites bring familiar local flavours into a contemporary setting, while the beverage programme moves between classic and contemporary serves and more creative concepts inspired by art, culture and local ingredients.

Empowering the creators of tomorrow’s economy
By Pablo Tachil, Head of TMT GCC and Sri Lanka
I’ve spent years travelling across South Asia, and here’s the pattern I keep seeing: the entrepreneurs who move the needle aren’t waiting for perfect conditions. They build through uncertainty, they create jobs, and they solve problems that actually matter to the people around them. That spirit is alive and well in Sri Lanka today, and it’s exactly why I’m bullish on this country’s next chapter.
Here’s the thing, the next phase of Sri Lanka’s growth isn’t going to be written only by its established institutions. It’s also going to be written by founders with the courage to reimagine industries and build markets that don’t exist yet. In the AI era, entrepreneurial capacity isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s economic infrastructure. The stronger and more inclusive that infrastructure is, the more resilient and competitive the whole economy becomes. The real question is whether the ecosystem around them lets them turn technology into enduring value. That takes skills, trusted data, capital, mentorship and collaboration, all evolving together, not in isolation.

That’s the conviction that led us to launch the Salesforce Startup Program in Sri Lanka earlier this year and we did it because we believe in what this entrepreneurial community can become. AI can compress the distance between an idea and its impact dramatically. But let’s be clear-eyed: human ambition is still the engine. Technology is the accelerator. If we get the foundations right – skills, capital, mentorship, trust Sri Lanka’s founders won’t just participate in tomorrow’s economy. They will define it.
