Kush cannabis cultivation in air-conditioned room raided

Policemen attached to the Western Province – South Crimes Division raided a Kush cannabis cultivation in a two-storeyed house at Kahanthota Road in Pittugala, Malabe, Sunday.

Police said that they had found a highly sophisticated cultivation set-up, using modern technology, to cultivate around 174 Kush cannabis plants inside an air-conditioned room on the ground floor of the house.

During the raid, one of the suspects was caught in the process of packaging the drug for distribution.

Police have estimated the street value of the seized ‘Kush’ cannabis to be around Rs. 100 million.

Two suspects, aged 25 and 48, who were arrested at the scene, would be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court, police said.
