Kaushini hammers 374 runs as Anula post 552 for no loss
Anula Vidyalaya opener Kaushini Nuthyanga cracked an unbeaten 374 in 133 balls to establish a new batting record in Inter School Under 19 girls’ cricket yesterday. She joined Shikari Ranahansi for Anula Vidyalaya to amass 552 for no wicket in 30 overs against Marapola MV in the match played at Veyangoda.
In reply the girls from Marapola MV could muster only 40 runs.
Former Devapathiraja player Kaveesha Dilhari’s triple century (in a 25 overs a side match) against Dharmapala in 2017 was the highest individual knock, until Kaushini overtook it yesterday.
Incidentally it is the second knock of over 200 runs scored by a batswoman in this tournament following Nawodya Nethmini’s unbeaten 201 in a match played on Saturday.
According to schools officials Kaushini has scored 52 fours and 19 sixes in her innings. In the unbroken 552 runs partnership for the first wicket, Ranahansi scored 116 runs not out in 73 balls (10x4s, 4x6s).
