Intrepid and MDF host an empowering workshop for women business owners
Intrepid Travel Colombo, in collaboration with the Market Development Facility (MDF) and the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), hosted a successful workshop for women business owners in tourism. Held on April 5th in Kandy, the session brought together 15 women entrepreneurs from Sri Lanka’s Central Province. Building on the success of its previous “Women in Tourism” initiative, the workshop focused on leadership skills, business strategy, confidence-building, and sustainable tourism. Intrepid’s Country GM, Poornaka Delpachitra, emphasized the importance of supporting women in tourism, helping them overcome challenges and fostering a more inclusive, empowered industry.
Delpachitra said: “This was an impactful day of learning, sharing, and growing together. Our focus this time was on women business owners—those who are already shaping Sri Lanka’s tourism industry in meaningful ways but often face unique challenges in accessing resources, networks, and recognition. By creating a space for peer connection, leadership development, and shared learning, we’re investing in a stronger, more inclusive tourism sector.”
