Home Covid-19 testing kits importation under discussion
A discussion was underway on importing kits that can be used by people to self-diagnose COVID-19, director of the Health Promotions Bureau, Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa said yesterday.
He told the media that such test kits were being used in some countries and the Health Minister and officials in charge of laboratories were looking into using those kits here, too.
Director of the Tertiary Care Services Dr. Avanthi Karunarathne said that 14,152 COVID-19 patients have been kept under home quarantine. By yesterday (27) 36,220 patients under home quarantine had fully recovered, she said.
Addressing the media in Colombo yesterday she said that 68% of the home quarantine cases were from Western province. Out of those we kept under home quarantine, only 435 needed hospitalization.
The Director said those who want to be treated at home need to register through hotline 1390.
“The hotline 1390 is open only for registered patients. If there are any unregistered Covid patients, they can use 247 and 1999 hotlines,” she said

Cabinet approves 14 day Visa extension
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution furnished bys the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs to extend Visas of those unable to leave Sri Lanka due to the
cancellation of flights to the Middle East from 28.02.2026 for another 14 days without any payments and re-extend the extended Visas for another 14 days without payments if the flights cancellations continue.

The Cabinet of Ministers, taking into consideration the resolution furnished by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Council, and Local Government, have decided to appoint Anupama Mangala Wickramaarachchi, a special grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, who is serving as the Additional Commissioner General of Agrarian Development of the Department of the Agrarian Development at present, as the District Secretary , Ampara Administrative district with immediate effect.
