Four million people employed in small industries had been adversely affected by exponential power tariff increases imposed twice within six months, All Ceylon Small Industries Association President, Thiruksha Kumara, said.

Kumara said that employees of small industries would arrive in Colombo shortly to hold a protest.

“The government imposed several taxes on businesses. Now, the electricity bill is up. We can increase prices but who will buy our goods and services? The cost of raw materials has increased.

The government undertook to bring down inflation. It has destroyed our industries, instead,” he said.
