Govt. to promote Anagam Pora

The State Ministry of Rural and School Sports Infrastructure Improvement has allocated Rs. 30 mn to promote Angam Pora.

Angampora, which means the use of the limbs in combat without the use of weapons has been divided into several categories.

Angampora will be promoted as part of a government’ programme to develop Sri Lankan sports.

Plans are underway to identify veterans in Angampora and recruit them as instructors.

Dr. Siran Upendra Deraniyagala, a renowned archeologist/scholar from University of Cambridge, London and Harvard has been tasked with gathering historical data about Angam Pora.
