Gampaha witnesses hike in dengue cases

About 16,082 dengue cases had been detected in the Gampaha District in 2023, Gampaha District Regional Health Service Director Dr Indika Wanninakaye said.

During the last week of 2023, about 235 dengue cases had been reported from the 15 regional MOH (Medical Officer of
Health) areas in the district, Dr Wanninayake said, adding that the figure showed a 13.9 percent increase in cases compared to the previous week.

Dr. Wanninayake said Ja-Ela, Biyagama, Katana and Negombo MOH areas had been declared as vulnerable areas.
