Former Kotte Mayor backs President Wickremesinghe for integrating Generation Z
By Thushara Athapaththu
Former Mayor of the Kotte-Sri Jayawardenepura Municipal Council, Janaka Ranawaka, Last week stated that President Ranil Wickremesinghe is the only candidate committed to integrating Generation Z into society and empowering them to take responsibility for the country’s development.
Speaking at a rally in Narahenpita, Ranawaka emphasized that electing President Wickremesinghe would enable Sri Lanka’s youth to shape the society they envision for themselves. He noted that, as in other countries, Sri Lankan youth should be given the opportunity to influence the nation’s future, a goal he believes can only be achieved under President Wickremesinghe’s visionary leadership.
Ranawaka pointed out that Sri Lanka had once been ahead of many developed nations but has since fallen behind due to traditional politics and misleading slogans. He stressed that maintaining the economic stability achieved over the past two years is of utmost importance, warning that without continued efforts, the economy could collapse again.
To secure the country’s future and that of its youth, Ranawaka argued that President Wickremesinghe needs the next five years to make crucial decisions. “We must set aside our political differences and support him,” Ranawaka said.
