First poaching Indian vessel intercepted this year with ten fishermen
The Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard took into custody an Indian fishing boat poaching in Sri Lankan waters on Wednesday night (8) off the seas of Kovilan Lighthouse, Karainagar in Jaffna.
The navy also apprehended 10 Indian fishermen. This is the first such arrest in 2025.
The fishing boat and the 10 Indian fishermen were brought to the Kankesanthurai harbour and handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries Inspector for onward legal proceedings, the navy said.
