Fair weather will prevail over most parts of the Island

Except for a few showers in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts, mainly fair weather will prevail over most parts of the Island.

Winds will be south-westerly and speed will be (30-40) kmph. Fairly strong winds about 40 kmph can be expected at times in the western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-Central, Southern and North-Western provinces, and in Trincomalee district. Wind speed may increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai. Wind speed may increase up to (45-50) kmph at times in the other sea areas around the island.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai can be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island may fairly rough at times.

Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.

Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces and in Trincomalee district.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The rainy condition is expected to temporarily increase over the southwestern parts of the island from tonight (25 June) and during the next few days.
