WEATHER FORECAST FOR 31 JANUARY 2026

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.

Showers will occur at times in  the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Central provinces. Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in Mullaittivu, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa and Matale districts. Several spells of shower will occur in Uva and North-western provinces. Showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in other areas of the island after 2.00 p.m, and fairly heavy showers  above 50 mm are likely at some places.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara and Anuradhapura districts during the early
hours of the morning.

Showers will occur at times in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Fairly Heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the  Uva province and in Batticaloa and Ampara districts. Several spells of shower will occur in the Northern and North-Central provinces and in the
Hambantota district.

Showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in other areas of the island after 2.00p.m.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in Badulla, Galle, Matara and Anuradhapura districts during the
early hours of the morning.

There is a possibility of ground frost at some places in the Nuwara-Eliya district in the early hours of the morning.

Mainly dry weather will prevail in most parts of the island.
