Dry weather will prevail over the island

WEATHER FORECAST FOR 09 MARCH 2026
Issued at 05.30 a.m. on 09 March 2026 by the Department of Meteorology

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in  the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North-western provinces and in Anuradhapura, Mannar, Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.

Dry weather will prevail over the island, except for showers or thundershowers that may occur at a few places in Rathnapura, Kaluthara, Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR 04 SEPTEMBER 2026
Issued at 05.30 a.m. on 04 September 2026 by the Department of Meteorology

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Uva, Central and Eastern provinces and in Polonnaruwa and Mullaittivu districts after 2.00  p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places.

Several spells of showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
