Dinura, Rusanda score centuries, Mahinda, Petes, Trinity top 300 runs

Centuries by Dinura Kalupahana and Rusanda Gamage helped Mahinda and St. Peter’s post 300 plus scores in their respective Under 19 cricket encounters which commenced yesterday.

Kalupahana scored 149 runs inclusive of 18 fours to help Mahinda post 348 for eight wickets declared against St. Servatius’ at Galle. Pramesh Madubashana and Chandupa de Silva scored valuable 50s while number seven batsman Shehan Hasaranga cracked 68 runs in 48 balls inclusive of six sixes and two fours for them to accelerate towards the end.

For St. Peter’s, Gamage had support coming from Sri Lanka Under 19 players Lahiru Dawatage and Wanuja Kumara, who scored half centuries to boost the total. In reply, the Bens were 35 for one wicket at stumps as Kumara bowled four consecutive maidnes, Danal Hemananda and Lakindu Sachin took a wicket each.

At Darley Road, Vibhawith Ehelepola (87), Pawan Pathiraja (56) and Akram Muthalib (70) scored half centuries for Trinity to post 318 runs against St. Joseph’s.

At Lake View, St. Sylvester’s were helped by Kavishka Dilshan, who scored a valuable 86 runs for them to post 240 against Dharmaraja.
