Deposit placed for Field Marshal
A deposit has been placed on behalf of Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka yesterday (05), to contest the 2024 Presidential Election as an independent candidate.
Dhammika Ratnayake placed the cash deposit on behalf of Fonseka.
Former JVP MP Siripala Amarasinghe also placed bonds yesterday (05) to contest in the forthcoming Presidential Election as an independent candidate.
Amarasinghe is a former MP from Gampaha District representing the JVP. Accordingly, 16 candidates in total have placed their deposits with the Election Commission to contest for the presidency as of last evening. This includes seven independent candidates whose names have been nominated by a voter, eight candidates from recognized political parties and one candidate from other political parties.
