Chandrika hails Harini
Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga stated yesterday that the appointment of Dr. Harini Amarasuriya as Prime Minister was a significant victory for Sri Lankan women.
Speaking to the media following an event in Horagolla, she expressed her confidence in the new Prime Minister, describing Amarasuriya as well-educated.
However, Bandaranaike declined to comment further on the new administration under President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Former MP Susil Premajayantha, a close ally of Bandaranaike, noted that they were still considering the best course of action regarding the upcoming general election.
“I hope we can unite all progressive elements,” he said.
