CA rejects petition filed by Justice Minister

Court of Appeal Justice D.N. Samarakoon yesterday rejected a petition filed by Minister of Justice Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe challenging the injunction, which was issued by the Colombo District Court in April preventing him from functioning as the Acting Chairman of the SLFP.
The Court of Appeal said the relevant orders in that regard should be obtained from the District Court.
In April, the Colombo District Court issued a restraining order against SLPP member Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, after he was appointed Acting Chairman of the SLFP by the Maithripala Sirisena faction of the SLFP.
Colombo District Judge Sandun Withana issued the order after considering a plaint submitted by Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna and MP Duminda Dissanayake.
