Budget second reading passed with 2/3 majority

The second reading of Budget 2025 was passed in Parliament with a two-thirds majority yesterday.

There were 155 ayes and 46 nays.

The SJB, ACTC and MPs from other Opposition parties voted against the B udget 2025.

The Appropriation Bill for the year 2025 was presented to Parliament for the First Reading on 9 January 2025.

The second reading debate was held for seven days from 18 to 25 February. Thereafter, the vote on the second reading of the Bill took place around 6.20 p.m.

The committee stage debate on the Appropriation Bill is scheduled to be held for 19 days, including four Saturdays, from tomorrow (27) to 21 March.

The vote on the third reading of the Appropriation Bill will be held on 21 March at 6.00 pm.
