BOC Strives to Boost Sri Lankan SMEs to Reach Global Market with “Entrust SMEs to Global”.

With the hope of boosting local SMEs to reach global markets, the Bank of Ceylon- Banker’s to the Nation formulated a series of seminars in collaboration with the Industrial Development Board (IDB) recently. The launch took place with the patronage of the Bank’s Chairman Mr. Ronald C. Perera and the General Manager Mr. Russel Fonseka The project was jointly spearheaded by the DGM Corporate and Offshore Division Mr.G.A. Jayashantha and DGM Development Banking and Branch Credit Operations Range 2 Mrs.Rochell Fernando. Members of the bank’s Corporate and Executive Management and officials of IDB also participated for the program.

The very first program of the series was successfully concluded at the Bank’s Head Office Auditorium, organized by the BOC Metropolitan branch. The seminar was conducted covered topic of; marketing, branding, strategies to reach global market opportunities and possible risks related to MSMEs. Resource persons from BOC and IDB provided their insights to these entrepreneurs and advised them on resolving some of the practical difficulties in operation.

On part of its responsibility as a corporate citizen, the Bank of Ceylon takes charge in empowering country’s economy through strengthening the local entrepreneurial spirit through a strong framework set to fuel financial capabilities and building financial literacy among SMEs. BOC has already established an entrepreneur development hub through SME-Circle and Export-Circle as a part of this initiative and hopes to outspread the benefit to many entrepreneurs as possible.
