Biden Vs Trump
Local stars express their views on…
The past few weeks, the whole world was focused on America – Joe Biden Vs Donald Trump. No it wasn’t connected with a boxing match, like the good old days when Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) took on his opponents, in the ring!
This time the euphoria was the presidential election.
In fact, whenever I chatted with my friends, in the showbiz industry, invariably, the Biden/Trump topic cropped up.
I then thought it would be a good idea to get their views, in brief, and share it with my readers. And, these are some of the comments…
* Kumar De Silva:
This particular election was absolutely hilarious and totally entertaining, to say the least.
On one side, was Biden’s calm, distinguished sobriety. On the other, were Trump’s pathetic histrionics.
Understandably, this election also spawned an incredible amount of social media jokes, memes, videos, parodies of songs, etc.
Enter Kamala Harris, and Donald Trump mercilessly bashes and reviles her, as he does Biden parallelly. That I found even more disgusting.
And, then came the results, with more drama…probably with lawsuits to come!
Is the drama really over? Well, technically, yes, I guess, but then, on the other hand, not as long as Donald sulks and whimpers…but, that, too, I presume, will peter out.
*Suzi Croner (Fluckiger):
I’m just happy for America that the clown lost and has been replaced by a more distinguished personality in Joe Biden.
Trump was a liar…and a boaster, as well.
Oh, I better stop now before some stupid Trump follower tries to bash me…like Trump, himself, who is a master at bashing people!
* Sohan Weerasinghe:
I’m very confident that President-elect Biden will take on the Coronavirus pandemic, head on
Kamala Harris will become a great symbol of hops for all aspiring women, as this is the first time that America has had a female Vice President.
America, China, India, and some other European countries, and Japan, have always come to our aid, in difficult times.
My request to these countries is to recognise that Sri Lanka is a sovereign nation, and a non aligned country, and no country should interfere in our internal affairs.
* Dr. Nilanka Anjalee Wickramasinghe:
I would say so long as no one interferes with Sri Lanka and cause no more wars, worldwide, I don’t mind who becomes the President of the USA.
* Benjamin Ranabahu:
I’m not a major follower of elections, in any part of the world, but the American presidential election did get my attention because of the media publicity it generated, especially on TV.
Whenever I switched on the TV, it was all about Donald Trump and Joe Biden and so I was, obviously, forced to take in that scene.
As President, from what I gather, Donald Trump failed, on many an occasion. To me, he was more concerned about promoting his image than helping to solve world problems.
Just look at how he tackled the Coronavirus pandemic in the States, resulting in over 240,000 deaths!
I’m sure Joe Biden will be of much benefit to the people of America.
* Judy and Kanthie de Silva:
America badly needed a leadership change and the new President-elect, Joe Biden, will now have the opportunity of uniting a divided America.
Also, Kamala Harris, as Vice President, will give women, around the world, more confidence.
We wish Biden and Harris the very best.
*Noeline Honter:
Joe Biden appears to be a charming and likable person. However, I disagree with many of the policies of his party… the Democrats.
On the other hand, Donald Trump, despite his arrogance and pomposity, is Pro-life and Pro-family. This is one of the reasons why he receives my support, because I believe that life is sacred.
In addition, he has many plus points to his credit, including the historic brokering of peace agreements between Israel, and several Arab nations (The UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, etc.).
Trump was also the only President, in recent times, who did not involve America in any wars. And the list goes on….
Therefore, at the risk of being unpopular with the majority, I would say that I am a Trump supporter because I believe that he represents hope for America.
