Beauty Care programme for professionals

Dr Mrs Lakmali pathiraja, Consultant cosmetic & Aesthetic dermatologist at Sri Lanka Army hospital conducted a workshop and an awareness program for General practitioners and professional beauticians on the aesthetic procedures and correct practice of it was held at Jetwin lagoon Negambo last weekend.

She launched her maiden Beauty Care programme for professional pending a series of programmes Islandwide. A large number of professionals gathered at the occasion.The participants showed a very good interest and there were many productive interactions between doctors and beauticians on the subject topic.

Dr Lakmali stated that nowadays young ,elderly both male and female are very much concern about their looks and being attractive , so the beauticians also do have a role to play but within the permissible limits , people can watch videos on youtube and they try various advance procedures which actually should be performed by a qualified Doctor. She also stated that there were many incidents that they have come across that the procedures were done in the wrong manner and to rectify them once the damage is done is not easy.

In her presentation, she advised the beauty salon therapists that “if a client complaints a bad experience, perhaps caused by a therapist’s lack of incapability, it will be a disgrace to the entire industry. Therefore, every individual working in the beauty sector has a responsibility to ensure that they are well trained for their job and best practices are maintained at all times”. She said this is her maiden programme to the beauty industry and planning to conduct in many other areas in the country to guide the industry associates to become professionally engaged in the beauty care business.

She also opined that when buying skincare products they should seriously consider that the product is clean, natural, and free from any harmful chemicals. She also recommended using medical-grade skincare products, to visit a Dermatologist to get right treatment for skincare and to get personalized recommendations for Aesthetic Treatments for those concerned in beauty and skincare.
