Making much headway in the Doha scene is Rubeena Shabnam, from Sri Lanka.

Her voice is heard on radio – Radio Suno Lanka – and she is also a teacher at Little Montessori Nursery.

However, right now, she is in the spotlight for her talent as a singer, with the release of her second Sinhala original – ‘Santhose.’

Her maiden effort was ‘Ma Dase,’ featuring Lucky from We Four Music, from Sri Lanka.

It was four years ago that Rubeena was last seen in the showbiz arena, as a performer.

She says she decided to take a break…and ‘Santhose’ is her comeback effort.

The song also features Murshad Huvais, described by Rubeena as a very talented artiste.

“Murshad Huvais is the rapper, singer and lyricist of the Funky Dirt boy band, based in Sri Lanka, and his stage name is Mura.”

Murshad created the lyrics for ‘Santhose.’while Shenal Maddumage produced/mix and mastered the track.

“Returning to the industry, as a musician, feels great and I’m so glad I have the support of some great musicians, like Dileepa Liyanage, who is my sound engineer/best buddy, and the one who guides me through working at Record On Studio Qatar, and also Dinesh Hemantha, from DH Wave Music, Nadith de Silva, Jananga Vishwajith (lyricist) and more.”

‘Santhose’ can now be checked out on all streaming platforms.

Rubeena also mentioned that she is working on her third release which will, in fact, be her first solo single.

Referring to the current situation, in Doha, she said although the lockdown is not in force, the authorities are very strict where face masks are concerned, and heavy fines are imposed on those who don’t carry out their strict instructions.

She also added that venues can accommodate only 50% of the capacity, and a fully vaccinated certificate is a must for entry.

Let me add that we, too, need to implement such strict rules.
