Army captain killed in road mishap

An Army captain was killed in an accident that took place on the Muthuwella Sinhapura – Welikanda road, at Welikanda, early Saturday.The accident occurred when the driver of an Army vehicle, carrying a group of officers, lost control and crashed into a roadside tree.Welikanda Police said that the accident had occurred while the military personnel were travelling from the Trincomalee Army Camp to Maduru Oya, for official duty.
The Captain, who was travelling in the front seat of the defender, was seriously injured and died after being admitted to the Welikanda hospital.The deceased was a 28-year-old resident of Millawana, in Matale.
Four people, including the driver, were injured in the accident and admitted to Polonnaruwa Hospital.The Welikanda Police are conducting further investigations.
