Alleged misappropriation of Rs 70 mn: Namal indicted, fingerprinted and granted bail
Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne yesterday (18) fixed pre-trial conference of the Krrish case for 27 March, 2025, after SLPP National Organiser and parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa was served the indictments in respect of alleged misappropriation of Rs 70 mn provided by Indian company Krrish for the development of rugby in Sri Lanka.
HC Judge Thilakaratne ordered that the former Sports Minister’s fingerprints be obtained after releasing him on two surety bonds of Rs. 10 million each and a cash bail of Rs. 100,000.
During the Yahapalana government, the police investigated the allegations pertaining to the Krrish deal, following a complaint lodged by Wasantha Samarasinghe, now a Minister in the NPP Cabinet.
