Alleged abduction of web journalist: Rakitha, Chathura questioned
The police yesterday (22) questioned Samagi Jana Balavegaya MP Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and his son and former UNP MP Chathura Senaratne over an incident, where they allegedly helped a web journalist who claimed to have been abducted, beaten and released. Police headquarters said that there was no basis for Siyarata web journalist Sujeewa Gamage’s claim that he had been abducted on 10 March.
Police headquarters said that investigations and video footage obtained by investigators revealed that the suspect visited a political office run my Chathura Senaratne at Thimbirigasyaya and met both Dr Rajitha and his son before he got himself admitted to the National Hospital.
Police headquarters said that Gamage’s injuries were self-inflicted.
