Active involvement of public officials in the “Aswasuma” program is vital – Sagala Ratnayaka
President’s Senior Adviser on National Security and Chief of Presidential Staff, Sagala Ratnayaka during a discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (18) said that the active participation of government officials is essential for the implementation of the “Aswasuma” social welfare benefit program, which was initiated under the guidance of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, to empower low-income families and provide relief to the people in need.
He pointed out that the country had to face many economic problems in the past due to the failure to take necessary policy decisions on time.
The National Peoples Power [NPP] secured 10 seats in the 22 member Kurunegala Municipal Council while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya [SJB] were second securing five seats.
The Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi secured 16seats in the 34 member Batticaloa Municipal Council while the National peoples Power [NPP] has secured 9 seats.
The National Peoples Power [NPP] secured six seats while the Samagi Jana Balawegaya [SJB] secured five seats and the United National Party [UNP] secured five seats in the 16 member Kuliyapitiya Urban Council
