AAC initiative to reduce accidents in SL

The representatives of the Automobile Association of Ceylon (AAC), Devapriya Hettiarachchi- Secretary & Prasanna De Zoysa – Sectional Chairman, Road Safety, handed over a proposal to Ms. Kumari Jayaratne, chairperson, National Council for Road Safety(NCRS)with a view to reducing accidents in Sri Lanka on the directive of the 4TH Global Ministerial Conference.

During the meeting following subjects were discussed;

Unsafe modification of vehicles

Installation of hazardous motor accessories.

Making seat belt use mandatory for all passengers in cars and buses by amending the Motor Traffic Act.

Reduce the beggar menace in Colombo City.

It was also discussed that in order to achieve the above, to prepare a Road Map and agree that the Automobile Association of Ceylon and National Council for Road Safety work together to achieve the targets mentioned in year 2030.
