A low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeastern Bay of Bengal around 15th February.
The general public are requested to be attentive to the future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard

Showers will occur at times in the Central, Uva, Eastern, Northern and North-central provinces and in Hambantota district
WEATHER FORECAST FOR 14 FEBRUARY 2026
Issued at 2.00 p.m. on 13 February 2026 by the Department of Meteorology
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.
Showers will occur at times in the Central, Uva, Eastern and Northern provinces and in Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Uva and Central provinces and in Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa districts. Several spells of showers will occur in Anuradhapura district. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 1.00 p.m. and fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely at some places.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa province, Kaluthara, Galle and Matara districts.
