Prevailing showery condition over the island is expected to be reduced from today (04).

A few showers may occur in Eastern coastal areas during the morning while showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts in the evening or night.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers may occur in the coastal areas of Western province during the morning while showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Eastern, Southern and Uva provinces and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Polonnaruwa districts and a few showers may occur in Northern province and in Anuradhapura district. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or night.

Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva province and in Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Eastern, Southern and Uva provinces and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Polonnaruwa districts while several spells of showers will occur in the Northern province and in Anuradhapura district. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or night.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Matara via Batticaloa and Hambantota. Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island during the afternoon or Night

Winds will be north-easterly to easterly and speed will be (20-30) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar

The sea areas off the coasts extending fromChilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar will be fairly rough at times. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers
