The best chocolate brand in Sri Lanka, Kandos, now offers its fans an opportunity to contribute for a worthy cause while tantalizing the chocolate lover within themselves. Raminthi Ihansa Nethranjalee (9 yrs old) from Gampaha and Minuli Sasithma Gunathilaka (7 yrs old) from Mudungoda, who won the Kandos 2021 Children’s Day Rasa Siththam competition conducted with the assistance of the Ministry of Education.

The competition that commenced on Oct 1 marking the World Children’s Day was a project to raise funds to help the underprivileged children with educational equipment needs and other facilities. The competition in

its first phase invited children below the age of 12 years to paint anything of their liking and submit them to Kandos. A panel of judges from the Ministry of Education and Kandos selected the best three of all the entries sent to them by children from schools countrywide. The arts were later taken to design the wrappings of Kandos chocolates which have now been released to the market. Major portion of revenue from those products is directed to a fund which is meant to enhance the lives of underprivileged children by assisting them with their school equipment and other needs. The beneficiaries of the assistance are selected by Kandos officials under the guidance and directive of the Education Ministry officials. Each time they purchase those products, Kandos fans can contribute to this worthy cause.  The three-award winning young artists were recently felicitated at the Ministry of Education in a ceremony organized jointly by the ministry and Kandos in the presence of Secretary to the Ministry of Education Prof. K. Kapila C.K. Perera.
