Atmospheric conditions are favorable for development of evening thundershowers in the island during the next few days.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere of the island during the evening or night. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly and wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota may be fairly rough at times while trong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Strong winds about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Rathnapura, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
