Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the morning.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places over the coastal areas of Galle to Hambantota via Matara during the morning while showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Southern provinces after 2.00 p.m.
Winds will be south-easterly in the sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and south-westerly or variable in direction in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph.
Sea areas around the island will be slight but strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The Heat Index Forecast is calculated by using relative humidity and maximum temperature and this is the condition that is felt on your body. This is not the forecast of maximum temperature. It is generated by the Department of Meteorology for the next day period and prepared by using global numerical weather prediction model data.

Effect of the heat index on the human body is mentioned in the above table and it is prepared on the advice of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medical Services.
ACTION REQUIRED
Job sites: Stay hydrated and takes breaks in the shade as often as possible.
Indoors: Check up on the elderly and the sick.
Vehicles: Never leave children unattended.
Outdoors: Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.
Dress: Wear lightweight and white or light-colored clothing.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North-central provinces.
